Since 1992 Alex and Ellinor Nurnberg have been Sunnivue's farmers, helping soil, plants and animals toward greater health and sustainability through organic and biodynamic practices. Aided by apprentices, WWOOFer's (World Wide Opportunities On Organic Farms) and volunteers, they provide locally harvested produce for the growing number of people who know that their farming methods benefit ecology as much as the produce itself nourishes human well-being.

Like most small farms, Sunnivue faces many economic challenges. However the shared commitment of ROSE members strengthens the possibilities for a more sustainable economic future. While Alex and Ellinor Nurnberg own the business which is their farm operation, Sunnivue itself is not owned. It is held in trust by ROSE whose responsibilities include securing the land and buildings free from debts so that Sunnivue may be farmed, in perpetuity, by farmers who practise organic/biodynamic agriculture

By giving time, energy and more to Sunnivue and ROSE, friends and members help keep this fam safe from the economic and ecological risks which can befall farms when owners must seek relief from financial hardship by selling their land to the highest bidder.

Exceptional help has come from the Community Bank For Giving And Lending in Bochum, Germany. This ethical bank and Dirk Lücke in particular have provided our not-for-profit group, ROSE, with significant grants and low-cost, collateral-free loans that are secured by each Pledge Group member's promise to repay them within a specific time period. Thus people, not the land, bear responsibility for debts.
